A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GYPSY SHRINE ARTIST - JESS!
We love keeping you updated on the glitter goss, so we caught up with our ultimate girl boss for the latest edition of 'A Day in The Life of a Gypsy Shrine Artist'.
Meet Jess, our fellow Mancunian and bad ass brunette glitter queen. We find out about her most memorable glitter moments, how she'd survive on a desert island and why she'd love to glitter up David Attenborough!
What's the best thing about being a Gypsy Shrine artist?
Covering yourself in glitter, obviously!!
Well that and also working with the most AMAZING, EMPOWERING, SUPPORTIVE group of women I’ve ever met!
The Gypsy Shrine is honestly like a sisterhood, we all support each other and help each other to grow both personally and creatively and we have the best time!!!
What's your favourite look you've ever created?
I loved my Valentine's Day look I created... The pink chunky glitter is so cute and girly and I love any of the silver face gems! They go with everything!!
Describe yourself in 3 words..
Ambitious, adventurous, adorable - (but only for about 20 minutes after I’ve eaten!)
What's been the most memorable event with The Gypsy Shrine?
Cheshire House Wives!! Without giving too much away, I spent a day with The Wards getting them ready for a upcoming event and I LOVED it!!
They were so warm and welcoming and we had so much fun! It was the longest shift I’ve worked but definitely the best!
What are your top 3 favourite beauty products you can't live without?
Dr Lipp – This is a lip balm, glitter fixer, eyebrow tamer all round amazing product and I find for festivals and holidays its fab!! You can press glitter on to it, or even eyeshadow pigments and it holds them perfectly!
Tan! – I’m torn between Bondi Sands and Fake Bake! Sometimes I mix both together, but nothing beats a good sun kissed tan!
Highlighter – I like my glow to be seen from space, I have about ten highlighting products in my personal kit and my current fave is Doll Beauty in ‘Shine Bright’
When you're not glittering everyone up, what do you do in your spare time?
I’m a full time Make-Up artist and Hairstylist which keeps me very busy!! I’m constantly on the go, which I love!
On my odd day off you’ll find me either on some kind of adventure, running or climbing or the complete opposite on a night out with my girls drinking cocktails and dancing the night away!
You're stranded on a desert island and can only take 3 things, what would they be?
Music – Any kind of music!
A bikini – Obvs!
Can I take my sister? – She would live it up with me until we ran out of food and then come up with a plan to get us home, whilst I tan, listening to my music in my bikini!
Festivals or holidays?
There’s no place quite like Glastonbury for me, I love it!
However, where I can I like to combine the two! I went to Barcelona a couple of years ago and did ‘Off Sonar’ which was unbelievable! It should definitely be on everyone’s bucket list!
What ultimate life motto do you live by?
Everything will be okay in the end, because if it's not okay, it's not the end!
I think you're always meant to be where you should be, and that little motto keeps me grounded.
If you could glitter any celebrity who would it be, and why?
If I could go back in time, 1000% George Michael! Although RuPaul, David Attenborough and Beyoncé would be AMMMAZZINNGGG!
If I had to pick just one, it would be Jennifer Sauder’s - I think she AB FAB! I love her Sass and I think she would be a great glitter model!
What advice do you have for an aspiring Gypsy Shrine artist?
You better get ready to work gurl!!!
No seriously working for The Gypsy Shrine is my favvvvv job EVER, the people, the products and the experiences we have! We are so lucky! But you better be ready to work hard, be professional and be supportive!
Oh and you better be ready to be constantly covered in glitter – I mean constantly!
